About Isabel Halstead
Isabel Denton was born by about 1599 near Bradford, Yorkshire, England
View claims about her parentage with extreme skepticism. No genealogist yet has determined her parentage. She was certainly not the daughter of Sir Thomas Denton MP and Susan Temple. And some tree cheat by making her daughter of John Denton any Susan Temple but we know Susan Temple was the wife of Thomas and Not John. She could be the Isabel Denton bp 4 Dec 1599 in Tong, St James, Yorkshire, England to Thomas Denton and Unknown but that would be a completely different Thomas Denton.
Nathan Halsted and Isabell Denton were married 24 October 1620 in Bradford, St Peter (Bradford Cathedral), Yorkshire, England. [1] A search of the Bradford records shows four christenings in Bradford attributed to parent Nathan Halstead:
Edna, christened 4 Nov. 1621; buried 6 Nov. 1621
William, christened 16 March 1622/23
Henrie, christened 29 August 1624, and
Edith, christened 1 Oct. 1626.
It is supposed that this "Edith" was in fact a mis-recording of "Edna", thus in fact being Edna Halstead. Note that there were two other children of Nathan Halstead buried in Bradford, one July 30, 1628 and one Mar. 16, 1628 (prob. 1628/29), for which there were no christenings.
Isabel died 15 March 1641/42 in Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts. [2]
Concord Deaths
Halstead, Isabell, w. Nathan, 15: 1m: 1641. [3]
Research note
All sources so far discovered show that Susan Temple married Sir Thomas Denton of Hillesden in Buckinghamshire. Susan's sourced life with Thomas leaves no room for a marriage to a John Denton of Yorkshire. If Isabel was born in Yorkshire then Susan was not her mother and has been detached.
