The wife of Isham Akin who was the mother of William is unknown. Granville County marriage bond #1488 dated 1789 January 19 for Lereviah Davis and Isham Aiken was issued eleven years after the birth of William as copied from the O T Moore manuscript. This must have been a second marriage for Isham. No wife was mentioned in his will, nor when he sold property in Chesterfield Co and Granville Co. Isham's will, dated 1806 May 22 and proved August Court, 1808, in Granville County, did not mention a son William. The only basis for believing William was a son of Isham is the O T Moore manuscript. William was not listed among the taxpayers of Granville Co in 1788. He was not an adult at that time. In the absence of other information regarding William's parentage, Isham is being listed as his father, mother unknown.
