MILITARY - Reviolutionary War soldier, served 84 months in North Carolina, dying in war. Tobias and Isiah Stedham both served 84 months in the Revolutionary War in North Carolina, and were both killed in the war. They lived in Polk Co., North Carolina (a part of Rutherford Co. at the time), and their land went to an heir, Capt. J.W. McNees, no doubt one of their sister's or daughter's husband. - ref.:Joseph Earls Steadman Sr., letter to Fannie Lewis dated 20 Feb 1954.

A Pvt. Isiah Stedham assigned his North Carolina land grant to Sgt. Robert Nelson - ref. "North Carolina Land Grants in Tennessee, 1778-1791", by Betty Goff Cook Cartwright and Lillian Johnson, Tennessee Division of Archives, 1958, page III-247.
