About Israel Bennion
When he was a young man, Israel was sent out into the 'Indian Territory' by his father, John Bennion, to herd sheep. Israel go to know the Indians quite well, including learning their language. In fact, when he came home again, he had to 're-learn' how to speak English.
From that time on, it was noticed that Israel was very short on words, speaking only when, and what, was absolutely necessary.
When older, he served in the position of Patriarch, giving Patriarchal Blessings. He gave a Patriarchal Blessing to his granddaughter, Dorothy Bennion (Potter), and it was short - only 108 words.
