EBLIN, Israel.
Israel Eblin was born in Loudon County, VA in the year 1787, where he lived till he grew up to manhood and married. Wife, Barbary Harnes, removed them to Tennessee, and settled in Roane County, where he has since lived, until the 20th of April last, when the way-worn pilgrim received his final discharge from the strife and conflicts of earth, to join the redeemed and happy hosts on high.
Brother Eblin was converted and joined the M. E. Church when quite a young man. Since that time, he has sustained an untarnished character, and a reputation for piety, becoming a professor of the religion of Jesus Christ. he served the church many years a class-leader and steward, with respectability and usefulness to his brethren, and spiritual profit to himself. He loved the Church, her doctrines, institutions, and usages, and he loved the preachers too. His home was the home of the itinerant, as many of the preachers know. But he is gone, not lost; (illegible) but gone from grace to glory.
He died suddenly and though he had not time to say anything to his wife and friends respecting his prospects for the future, yet there is not the show of a doubt, but that his spirit arrived safely in the Paradise of God; for he lived right, and of course died right, victorious and happy.
May the Good Lord abundantly bless his surviving companion and relatives. "Happy soul, thy days are ended, All thy mourning days below; Go, by angel guard is offended To the sight of Jesus, go.: J. N. M., Holston Journal, Thursday, 16 July 1863, Vol. I, No. 29.
