Either he came to Norway, or his father did before he was born. Iwer/Iver/Ivar is a Norse name, which indicates that it was perhaps his father (related to the 1745 Jacobite rebellion?), and that Iwer was born after he arrived.
His son, Gregorius, was supposedly born in Denmark (birth record not found), which could indicate that Iwer also was born there. It would be a valid Danish name as well.
Family story says that Iwer came from England, over Scotland to Bergen.
