About Izaak Wilhelm van der Vyver
Owner of a third of the loanplace called Buffelsdrift geleegen agter Plattekloof. In extent 2825 Morgan. Situated in the Swellendam District Fieldcornetcy of Groote Swartberg. On the 15th October 1839 a grant of a third each was made to Petrus Johannes Nel, Jan Tillman Olivier and Isaac van der Vyver. Izaak would be 61 years old. On the original diagram (Sw.Q14-40) there appears a T shaped house with two outbuildings and an eight morgan garden along the Swartberg river. The date on the gable of the farmhouse (now known as Winkelplaas) is 1835. One can assume that this was the original farmhouse on Buffelsdrift and the house must have been built before the grant was given in 1839. On the 7 September 1848, Isaac (now 70 years old) assigns 3/12 three twelths (a quarter) of his property to his sons Bernadus Lambertus van der Vyver (32 years old) and Isaak Willem van der Vywer (41 years old) for the sum of one hundred and twelve pounds and two shillings sterling. Izaak van der Vywer appointed John Barry as his attorny on the 3rd September 1846 and 1 February 1847. He died aged 80 years in 1859.
