Jørgen traded with farms like his father and brothers. He bought Myli on auction sale in 1811 for 10,000 riksdaler, But Jørgen got into trouble: he borrowed money and in 1824 he had to sell 1/3 of the farm to Ole Knudsen Engen for 700 spiesdaler. Because of more debts and an old mortgage deed on the former owner Herbrand the farm Myli was sold on auction sale 1833 for 701 spiesdaler to Ole K Engen, Levored H. Myli and Halvor P. Børtnæs, and the farm was divided in three parts. Jørgen died a poor man.
