I, William Heaton of South Carolina, Pendleton County, being very sick but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God... Calling into mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will & Testament; that is to say Princiaplly & first of all I give & Recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my Body I recommend to the Earth, to be buried in decent Christian burial at the descretion of my Executors, nothing doubting, but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again, by the Mighty Power of God and as touching such Worldy Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this live. I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form... First I give & bequeath to Esther, my dearly beloved wife, two hundred and fifty acres of land to be laid out in the middle of the tract of land I now possess, also the sorrel mare & colt, and one third of all of my household furniture, for her to hold and to have in peace induring her life or widowhood, but at her death or marriage, the said property all to belong to my youngest son, James Heaton. Also, I give to my well beloved son, Salathier; son, Thomas, daughter, Mary; daughter, Sary; son Benjamin, one English shilling apiece to be paid two years after my death. Also, I guve to my well beloved son, William Heaton by bay horse. Also I give to my well beloved son, Smith Heaton my wagon and one pair of chains, the old chains, & seventy four and half acres of land lying on the lower end of the survey.... Also, I give my well beloved son Joseph Heaton my young ball horse and seventy four & half acres of land lying on the upper end of the survey... Also, I give to my well beloved daughter, Anna Heaton, one feather bed & furniture, one cow & calf and her choice of the heifers. Also my black horse to be sold and the value to be given in building and cleaning on my wife's part of the land... Also all the rest of my estate of stock, household stuff all & singular to be appraised by three honest freeholders and the sum asertained with about twenty dollars in cash with all my notes and bonds, then all my debts, charges, & lawful demands to be paid out of the said sum, and, the balance, if any, to be equally divided between the following names my sons William, Smith, Joseph, and James Heaton and my daughter Anna Heaton.. Likewise, I do consistute, make and ordain, Esther Heaton, my dearly beloved wife and James Hembree the sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament. and, I do hereby Utterly disallow, revoke, disannul all & everyother former Testaments, wills, Legacees, bequeaths, & executors by me in any wise before mentioned willed & bequeathed, rattifying and confirming this & no other to be my Last Will and Testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 11 day of January 1799.
