About J. Stewart Bakula
Bakula, J. Stewart passed away peacefully at age 85 on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Missouri Baptist Hospital. He died of complications related to his ongoing battle with Alzheimer's. Beloved husband of 62 years to Sally Bakula (nee Zumwinkel); loving father and father-in-law to Scott (Chelsea) Bakula of Los Angeles, Linda (Ed) Willis of Omaha, and Brad (Kerry) Bakula of St. Louis; dear grandfather to Chelsy, Cody, Wil, Owen, Nate, Mali, Max, Sam, Charlie, and Luke; dear nephew of Ruth Brummel Stewart. Stew was born in St. Louis, graduated from Cleveland High School and attended Princeton on an academic/football scholarship. He served 3 years as an officer in the Navy, then attended Washington University Law School. After a successful career with The Seven Up Company, he retired as general counsel. His passion for sports included skiing, squash, tennis and golf. He was also an accomplished classical pianist. Services: Private family services to be held by BOPP Chapel in Kirkwood.
