Jackson Kinzie Cobb, Sr.

Jackson Kinzie Cobb, Sr., although named Cobb, was actually not a biological son of Jessee Cobb. He was born in October, 1820, probably in Grainger County, Tennessee. This is based upon the fact that his mother Nancy married his stepfather Jessee there on January 30, 1821. On the marriage records, Nancy's surname is given as Mullins and family information says that her son was born a Mullins, though according to this family information Nancy's maiden name was Reese. It is probable that Nancy was married to a Mullins and he died before or soon after Jackson Kinzie was born. In any event, he was born a Mullins, but was adopted by Jessee, raised as Jessee's own son, and took the name Cobb. A DNA test done in 2004 did prove that Jackson Kinzie was not the biological son of Jessee.--R. Woosley
