About Jacob Brunner, Sr

Church Records: Although there is no entry in the Family Register of the Church Records of 1st St. John's Lutheran Church, Seebach's Hill, for Jacob Sr. and either his first wife Margaret or second wife Margaret Schaub, Jacob Sr's son Jacob is listed on line 54 of the Family Register. He is recorded as being born on March 9, 1830 in Ingenheim, Elsace. No other information is listed on this line. However the 1900 Census for Iowa lists Jacob Jr's immigration as 1832.

Despite that, the information gleaned from the following sources state that Jacob Sr. died in 1854. However, I could not find him in the burial records of 1st St. John's Lutheran Church, Seebach's Hill and it is possible that he and his first wife were buried on their home farm at Lot 23, Concession 1 in Ellice Township.

Echoes of Ellice: According to page 54 of the Ellice Township history book, Echoes of Ellice, Jacob Brunner Sr. was married to Margaret and had the following children: Jacob Jr, George, Eva, Margaret, Catherine, Mary, Solania, and Barbara.

When Margaret died, Jacob Sr. married Margaret Schaub and had a son Michael.

In 1836 Jacob Sr. bought Lot 23, Concession 1 in Ellice Township, Perth County, earning the deed in 1845. Jacob Sr. died in 1854 and the property was transferred to his son Jacob Jr. Jacob Jr. then sold the property to Valentine Pfrimmer in 1872.

Water under the Bridges: According to page 146 of the Fullarton Township history book, Water under the Bridges, Jacob Sr leased Lot 7 of Concession 5 in Fullarton Township in 1846, earning the deed in 1854. He died this same year and the property was transferred to his son Jacob Jr. and, also during 1854, the property was transferred again to Jacob Sr's wife, Margaret. The property was then sold in 1855 and split between Michael and John Rohfrietsch.
