Pingel, Jacob Christian, 1718-82, priest, was born March 10, 1718 in Nyborg. His father, Lieutenant Christian Pingel, died in his childhood; The mother called Mette Sophie f. Eckleff. After his father's death he was sent to Elsinore School, from which he dimitteredes 1740. He got Attestats 1743 was the year after chaplain at Marie Church in Elsinore. At the same time he married Marie Elisabeth Winding, with whom he had 12 children. In 1755 he was appointed priest at the Church of Our Lady in Aarhus and dean of Ning Herred. From here he came 1760 to Soro as professor of theology at the Academy as well as parish priest and dean in Alsted Herred. From these offices were called upon him in 1764 to the diocese deanery in Odense. So far he had enjoyed great and general esteem in his prestigious position. When forløde more strident sad Rumors of gross immorality from his side. He dared the beginning of strong expression to plead his innocence; but as the storm gathered over his head, he wrote in Sept. 1773 King with prayer for mercy, in what he acknowledged his guilt. He was suspended, and Provsteret was reduced. Only 16 months after judgment was pronounced, sounded the official Forfeiture and Court forfeited to wear clerical garb. The case went to the Supreme Court, which in October 1775 upheld the Dean Court judgment. Luxdorph has antegnet in its Write Calendar that Pingel that day when judgment fell even was up in the Supreme Court in the morning and heard his determination and on the evening of comedy and then "Tartuffe". Strangely, after his dismissal remain in Odense, where he died on May 31 1782. Some insignificant writings of religious and educational direction, most Translations from German, he published after his condemnation. Bloch, The Fyenske clergy Hist. I, 694 et seq .; II, 139 f. Pingel, Jacob Christian, 1718-82, Præst, blev født 10. Marts 1718 i Nyborg. Hans Fader, Lieutenant Christian P., døde i hans Barndom; Moderen hed Mette Sophie f. Eckleff.
