Jacob and Anna Maria settled in Loudenville, Ohio after arriving from Germany.Jacob was a shoemaker.They moved to Guthrie Farm 1 1/2 miles from Perryville around 1855.A family story tells of Jacob breaking his leg here and Anna Maria would walk the 14 miles to Mansfield to buy leather for his shoemaking.Jacob was well educated and planned to become a minister but for some reason never did.They eventually sold the Guthrie Farm and bought one later owned by their son Frank.Jacob became ill and was found in the bedroom doorway apparently dead of a heart attack.He owned 280 acres of land which was kept in the family until around 1932 when Frank died.Source:Handwritten letter obtained from Doerrer descendant in Mansfield, OH / auther unknown.
