Most of the census workers misspell his mother's given name (or her nickname), but they are close enough to each other "for government work". It seems clear that they all are talking about the original mother instead of a new step-mother. We have called Jacob III's mother Barsheba, which is the formal form of the name we believe she was given at birth.
Also, the census workers are obviously not going to observe our own suffix conventions. For the record, we are referring to Patriot Pvt. Jacob Deckard as Jacob Deckard, Sr. and his son as Jacob Deckard, Jr.
Jacob Deckard Jr. begat Hezekiah Deckard, who begat the individual described by this profile, viz., Jacob Deckard III There will probably be even more Jacob Deckards to come, so watch out!
Also, some of the MyHeritage sources have him born "on or after 1839", which is OK, while others forgot to use a "circa" date. This is sloppy workmanship, but it wasn't enough to disqualify them as sources. They all, for example, seem to be better at spelling "Barsheba" than the census workers.
