About Jacob John Gubler
Death Summons Pioneer Rancher -- Ely, Nevada, August 7 -- Jacob John Gubler, retired Lund farmer and stockman, died at an Ely hospital Sunday after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Lund High School with Wilsono-Bates Chapel in charge of the arrangements. Besides his wife survivors are: sons, Raymond J., Earnest H., and Albert S.; daughters, Mrs. Leland Hendrix and Mrs. Doyle Wakeling, all of Lund; sons, Ralph and Charles Gubler, of Ely; daughters, Mrs. Seymour Oxborrow, McGill; Mrs. Charles R. York, Fallon; Mrs. Lewett Hart, Bridgeport, Oregon, and Mrs. J.G. Gilfillan of Los Angeles, California. There are also 26 grandchildren and two great grandsons.
Born June 21, 1870, in Santa Clara, Utah, he was the son of Kasper and Katherine Gubler and attended Brigham Young University at Provo. With his parents he moved to Lund in 1899 and had resided there since. He was one of the first settlers of the area and active in its development.
On January 29, 1896, he was married to Miss Mary Horsley in the L.D.S. Temple at St. George. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary January 20, 1946.
