/bjs Jacob Isenor, age 82, widower, born Lunenburg, son of William and Catherine Isenor, trader, died 4 Jan 1876 of old age at Dartmouth." Presbyterian Witness", 8 Jan 1876, Vol IXIX #2, p.8, PANS Film #3565, p. 1601. Jacob born 1793 in Lunenburg County, married 17 July 1817 to Elizabeth Selig (listed as Seeley in NS Marriage Bonds), died 4 January 1876 in Dartmouth, NS. They had a large family of daughters. No sons have been found. A few months after Jacob married in 1817, he signed his own name when he petitioned (Land Petition #1758) for land in St. Margaret's Bay, saying he was 22 years old, married, and a native of St. Margaret's Bay. He asked for land on the eastern side of the bay, formerly granted to Henry Gardner, who had since left the province. A Warrant to survey was issued for 100 acres on 8 December 1817. This land was between land granted to Thomas Croucher and John Dauphinee. It is believed that it was also this Jacob Izenor [Eisenhauer] who sold a parcel of land to his brothers, as shown in the following deed: Dated 9 August 1814, Recorded 15 September 1814. "I, Jacob Izenhaur [Eisenhauer] of the Dutch Village, in the County of Halifax and Province of Nova Scotia ... for £60 pounds sterling, paid to me by George, William and John Izenhaur, Farmers, all my proportional share, being one-fifth, of a certain island situate lying and being on the east side of St. Margaret's Bay, aforesaid formerly known by the name of Abercrombie(s) and not by that of Izenhaur's Island" the deed was signed by Jacob Izenor. (According to a Death Notice in the Presbyterian Witness, dated 8 January 1876, Jacob Isenor died 4th inst. [4 January], in his 83rd year. Upon reading the actual newspaper death notice, it states Jacob was born in Lunenburg, the son of William and Catherine. There was only one William Isenor, married to a [Anna] Catherine and old enough to have a child born in 1793, that being John William s/o Johannes. Maybe Jacob was the orphan of a relative's family and William & Catherine took him in. Maybe Jacob was a twin to Magdalena, born and died in December 1793. Most experienced researchers agree the evidence shows Jacob belongs in this family, either by birth or adoption. Therefore, I have entered Jacob in this text, as being s/o John William and Anna Catherine (nee Kaulback) Eisenhauer.)
