About Jacob Jorise Rapalje
The Rapaljes built a house near the East River, and were there during the Kieft War (1643-45) which began when the Dutch governor, Willem Kieft, attacked nearby Delaware-speaking Indian villages. Thousands of Indians were killed as well as a number of Dutch settlers, one was Jacob, who was born in 1639 and was killed; probably in 1643.
