About Jacob Kip
Jacob was co-patentee with brother Hendrick Kip of Kipsbergen, of a tract of land on the east side of the Hudson River opposite Rondout Creek, purchased from the Indians, July 28, 1686. This was confirmed on May 26, 1702. He was a cooper, and he was Justice, and in 1724 held the commission of a militia Captain from the Governor.
He purchased 24 acres of land from William Traphagen June 4, 1706. He purchased 89 acres of land from Hendrick Beekman Feb 28, 1714. He purchsed 301 acres of land from Hendrick Beekman Oct. 16, 1719. Teese purchases greatly enlarged his estate.
His will is dated Feb. 21, 1731 and was probated May 15, 1733. At the time of his death in 1733 he owned about 900 acres of land. Baptised Dutch Reform Church of New York.
