From the Kroll-Krull family history comes the following. In a letter written by Grandfather, Samuel Kroll to his neice, Sarah Kroll-Hyman, then of Homer, MI and dated 22 Jan 1918, he says, "My grandfather migrated to the State (NY) from Pennsylvania about the year 1808". (Land at York Co., Pennsylvania, United States purchased by Ludwig Waltman the father of Mary Catharine Waltman in 1775 from Christian Staber was sold to John Kroll in 1794.) On July 2, 1810 record from the Western New York Land Transactions, dated July 02, 1810, they migrated to the Town of Clarence in New York State. They built their first 'homestead' a log cabin at the end of the lane near Martin Road, off Strickler Rd. In this home, Mary had two more children. In 1840 Jacob and his son, John, built a homestead alongside the original log cabin. This house is still standing and is occupied by a family named Fix. Grandfather, Samuel also stated that his grandfather, Jacob spoke only broken English and that they were spoken of as Pennsylvania Dutch. Vernon and Myra Davison, descendants, wrote about the old family burial pilot on the old Abe Reigle and later the Abe Berry farm on the Martin Road in the Town of Clarence. We found a headstone inscribe "Jacob Kroll d. 31 mar 1853 aged 80 years. This would establish his birth in 1773. Underneath is the name Mary Kroll" The headstone of Polly Kroll-Doane a daughter of Jacob and Mary Kroll is inscribed "Polly Kroll, wife of Sylvester Doane, born in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania".
