About Jacob Röscher
A versatile and enterprising man of business as shopkeeper, tavern-keeper and cattle dealer. From 1829 until his death in 1835 he served on the governing board (Vorstrand) of Hochberg's Jewish community. Two children died in infancy. Presumably his brother raised his children after his early death. A certificate of 1830 has pew #20 as belonging to Jacob (costs ranged from 100 florins in front to 75 florins in back for 38 pews). Buried in plot 161 in the Jewish cemetery. Had 4 children - 2 of whom reached adulthood.
