Per Judy ; It is my understanding that they were in Wilkes Co. then went on to Ky. For some reason Jacob Stamper moved back and forth for a few times before he finally settles in Owen Co. What is interesting is that Jonathan's son, Hugh, married an Owen Co girl and settled there. The others did not. Hugh has been said to be a son of Jesse Stamper, but his son was named Hiram. All of Jesse's 17 children have been accounted for and Hugh is not one. It seems that our families were more mobile than was previously thought.
