About Jacob (Yani) Vechsler, הי״ד
Vechsler, Yaakov; 17: Born to a wealthy family from Chicago in 1912. During a family visit to Eretz Yisrael in 1928, he asked permission to remain in Hebron. He stayed with Rabbi Sokolover and quickly became a capable yeshiva student. Before being murdered in Slonim’s house, he managed to embrace Rabbi Sokolover and thank him for everything he had learned from the Torah from him: “I’m glad I’m going to die after having studied the Torah. I thank you for raising me in the Path of the Law and Torah.” A blow from an axe ended his thanksgiving.
