About Jacqueline Juliette Cowley

COWLEY _ Jacqueline Juliette - formerly Nielsen (nee Chevalier) February 16, 1911 - April 27, 2002. Survived by her daughters Kirsten McDougall, Valerie Dunsterville (Richard), Jacqueline Callaghan (Barry), Louise Nielsen Clark, her stepsons Vaughn Cowley, Peter Cowley (Joanne), her grandchildren, Bill Fleming (Teri), Debbie Burgess (Tim), Christopher Callaghan (Lenka), Michael Callaghan (Claire), Gavin and Tamera Clark, Jessica Cowley and her great grandchildren, Mary and Kirsten Burgess and Thomas Fleming. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband H.C. (Bill) Cowley in 2000, her former husband Carl in 1952 and her son-in-law Tom McDougall in 1992. Jacqueline was a complex mix of selflessness, love, warmth, giving and sharing and a person who did not suffer fools gladly. Her feisty nature served her well as she dealt with life's various crises. She was devoted to both her family and a vast extended family. The doors of her home were always open and all of our lives were made richer because of this. Throughout her life she was sustained by a strong Christian faith, and a love of the arts, particularly music, the theatre and books. She took a great pleasure from her garden and loved to travel whenever the opportunity arose. She passed all of these joys and interests on to her children. Educated at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, she remained a faithful member of the Alumni. She was enormously hard working and did everything to give her family a life of quality. At the end she was surrounded by her own and her extended family, supported by her faith and her sense of humour. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the North Shore Health Region, North Team and Dr. Ramona Penner for the help and support they provided Jacqueline during her final days. Prayers will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Monday, May 6 and a Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, May 7 at St. Edmund's Parish Church, 545 Mahon Ave, North Vancouver, B.C. (05/02/02)
