Innkeeper, baker and merchant, Jacques had ambitious plans for his several sons and maintained excellent relations with Parish notables and his Seigneur. He was active in the community and his good works made him one of Nocé's most prominent citizens. For a time he served as Provost of the Fréres de Charité for the Church of Nocé.
