Jakes Snyman (1965 - 2022)

Brief overview:

Jakes (57), a cattle and goat farmer from Schoemanskloof in Mpumalanga, was shot dead by three armed attackers during an attack on 31st May 2022.

Jakes had gone outside to investigate a noise and was accosted and shot by the perpetrators.

The attackers then assaulted and tied up Jakes wife Carien (48), ransacked the house and stole an unknown amount of cash.

After about 10 hours Carien managed to untie herself and call for help. She was taken to Rob Ferreira hospital in Mbombela after sustaining serious injuries, a suspected fractured skull and a severed tendon in her arm.

The police have opened a case of armed robbery and murder. Brig Selvy Mohlala said investigations are ongoing and no arrests have yet been made.
