About James Andrew Mackenzie Binnie
James Andrew Mackenzie Binnie was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1936. He studied at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin in Wisconsin, and Taliesin West, in Arizona. He met FLLW's daughter, Iovanna, there in 1958. They were married in 1960, and their child, Eve, was born in November of that year.
Andrew was a brilliant, handsome and talented man. He loved the work of the 18th century poet William Blake, and it was this interest that initially drew Iovanna and him together. Along with architecture, he loved to cook and was interested in the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff, with whom his wife had studied in Paris, in 1949.
He died in Toronto, Canada, in January of 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Eve Lloyd Wright (Mackenzie Binnie), and his son, James Binnie, by his second marriage to Patricia Howard.
