About James Edward Annis
Biographical Information: James was born on 23 May 1920 in Upton-on-Severn, Worcester to Mr and Mrs RA Annis. The family actually lived at 11 Bunns Road, Barneshall, Worcester. Before joining the Royal Navy James had worked for Heenan & Froude, a local engineering company. He was a keen footballer and played in goal for the local Catholic Club. James's last visit to his family was in January 1941. By the time of H.M.S Hood's loss, he had been in the Navy for two and a half years. He died in the sinking of H.M.S Hood 24th May 1941 age 21 years.
