James appeared as a taxpayer in Georges twp., fayette co. Pa. on 3 feb. 1787, again in 1788 and 1789. We assume he was at leats 21 in 1878.
Horn papers state that Ichabod Ashcraft (born 1722) had a son named James, that could of been the same age as this James.
LDS Library has a contribution by debbie robertson and Ruth Moran hat states Ephraim was Jame's father, ELizabeth his mother. The children listed above are also from this file.
This James is not to be confused with the James mentioned in the "Index to Patents and grants 1623-1674' at the Va. Library, or the references: 178 acres to James in book 34, page 251 as well as 186 acres in Book 34, page 814, both dated between 1756 and 1762. A son of Ephraim would not be old enough. this james birthdatemust be ca. 1735.
Rev. ware service James served in the State Militia from Pa.
Muster ROlls an other records of Service of maryland Troops in the American Revolution pgges. 67-68.
