First, I recognized this profile is completely unsourced so all the values might be off. But he was not the son of George Atherton and Elizabeth Radclyffe. George didn't have a son named James, d. in 1518 and m. (1) Anne Assheton, div. in 1506 1s. John and (2) c.1508 Anne Butler 1da. Anne (and I presume she died before 1518).[1]

George's son and heir John m. in 1533 a Elizabeth Radcliffe, but they were divorced in 1535 due to her adultery and had no children. This can't be their son either as he was born about 10 years before they were married when John was about 10 years old.[1]

Searched Lancashire OPC, Familysearch and FreeReg for christening and burial without success Hardman-1532 12:54, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
