James Baldwin, son of Abiel Baldwin and Eunice Coe, was b. in Durham, New York, on June 6, 1793; remained in Durham; m. 1st LOUISA HALL, of Bridgeport, Conn. He d. Feb. 20,1848.

(CC Baldwin has him marrying 2nd with Harriet Newell, of Stamford, in New York or Conn....)

Children were: Elihu Morris (m. Dec. 3,1849 w Harriet Newell. He d. Oct.17,1859; she, Jan. 1,1854, leaving a child, Nettie Harriet, b. Feb. 14,1851.) and Johnson Hewitt (1832).

Note: I believe that Elihu (James' son married the niece of his step-mother, also named Harriet Newell). See 1850 US census under Elihu, with his step-mother living at res. of Elihu and wife Harriet after the death, in 1848 of his father James..
