About James Brown, Sr.

Again: 2024
I find no record in our family documents of James Browns middle name being “Clifton” I have attached the LDS group sheet records.

I will remove the Clifton middle name.

Note: Not sure My Fathers Genealogy work had James Brown's middle name as " Clifton"? (Steve Brown LDS records)

Journal accounts: several locations, giving physical description ,"that he was "a very tall, dark complexioned man of wonderful anatomical and muscular proportions." When he was summoned by death, it was said of him: "If ever a good man lived and died upon the earth, grandfather Brown was one of them."

  • May Be Cherokee Brown Family*
  • May Be Catawba Saponi

Under investigation as Catawba Native.

We have Stillwell court case files with testimony stating our Whole Brown Family Were Considered Mixed Blood or Colored. Through 8 different Y DNA tests I show no African DNA except for Morocco, so it is safe to say the family was being called colored or mixed blood because of their native ancestry.
see Stillwell court file: [https://photos.geni.com/p13/00/4b/6b/d8/534448475914bafc/stillwellcourtcaseclaimingmybrownswerecoloredmixedblood_original.pdf]

The wonderful and special benefit from this case is we can see the names listed are the same names listed on William Brown's Will therefore it is confirmed our family and not another Brown line.
