Vol pp 38 Abst of Wills Vol 30 pp 418 In his will James states, " I leave nothing to my wife and hope the laws of this state will deprive her of any advantages of my estate." Aaron Burtis in his will gives bequest to James only if he outlives his wife. Will of James C. Burtis of New York, dated 22 June 1797, proved 22 July 1797, in NY Wills, Vol. 15, p 62. Exec. Samuel Stilwell of Bloomingdale. Other children but only son William Burtis mentioned. IGI NY State (Mar 1992) Marriage, History of St Georges Ch Hempstead NY p 195.
