James was born to Robert and as yet, an unnamed mother.[1] Robert is listed as an early settler in Milford, Connecticut.[2] The Denison family appears in records for Milford and New Haven. Many settlers there came as non-conformists from England.
James married Bethia Boykin on 25 Nov 1662 in New Haven, Connecticut.[3][1] On the 20 January 1661 a church committee was appointed to seat the townspeople in church. James (and family) were appointed to sit "against the soldiers seates".[4] He was on the list of Freemen in the year 1669.
