Biography
James Edmonson is buried in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetary with no marker in Forrest Co, MS. Bio: James Edmonson was one of the first settlers in Covington Co. He was a small boy when he moved to MS with his father. THe father moved on to north MS leaving part of the family in Covington Co. He bought land in Eatonville Community (Perry Co), now Forrest Co. and was a respected farmer, mason and member of the Providence Baptist Church. This church was organized in 1818. James Edmonson had 4 sons who fought in the war between the states. Robert, George and James were in the same company, Co. B., 4th Regiment, MS Cavalry. John Alexander (our grandfather) ran away at age 14 to try and find his brothers.[1]
