James B. Hayden, born in Nelson County, Kentucky, Aug. 23, 1836, is a son of Joseph Hayden (deceased), a native of Washington County. He came to this county in 1852. He enlisted in Company K, Fourth Kentucky Infantry. He was in many of the principal battles and never lost a day's service while in the army. He was married Jan. 28, 1868, to Mary D., daughter of Urban Hayden. Eight children have been born to them, only six living--Clarence E., Richard I., Treasie M., Robert, Claude and :Mary A. Mr. Hayden owns a farm of 103-f acres. He belongs to the Catholic church and Total Abstinence Society.
