James and Polly(Mary) settled on a block at Towaninnie and raised a family of eight. James and Polly had the post office and also the change-over point for the Cobb & Co. coaches on their way to Swan-Hill. Their place was built on the corner of the Quambatook-Dumosa road where the road to Nullawil takes of it was called "The Anchorage" and was also used for a school while the family was living there until the school was built.
