Eldon Howe Dies Monday
Eldon Howe, 81, of Lake City, died Monday morning at Stewart Memorial Hospital following a two week illness. He was a former resident of Lanesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday in the Community Methodist Church at Lanesboro. The Rev. Robert Parris will officiate. Interment will be made in the Lanesboro Cemetery.
Mr. Howe was born October 17, 1887 at Bagley, the son of James Frank and Carrie Deadrick Howe. His first wife, who died in 1919, was the former Ethel Ewart. On March 9, 1921, he was married to Bessie Stokes at Carroll and they farmed near Lanesboro until retiring some time ago. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Lanesboro and had served as a council man and Mayor of Lanesboro while living there. He and his wife moved to Lake City about four months ago.
Surviving with his wife are four sons, Ralph of Yucaipa, Calif.; Dean of San Bernardino, Calif.; Merle of Treynor; and Donald of Renton, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Herbert Harshbarger of Scranton. Another sister preceded him in death.
