James “Jim” Douglas Lewis

James D. "Jim" Lewis, 72, former resident, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, in Tucson, Arizona. Visitation will be 3:00PM - 6:00 PM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements Jim was born in Carlsbad, NM on March 10, 1942. Jim graduated from Carlsbad High School and NMSU with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Jim was a Human Resources Manager at PCA, in Carlsbad, NM, Bell Helicopter in Iran, and several locations of Phelps Dodge in Arizona. He enjoyed his friends, family, dogs, football and various sports. Jim loved keeping track of his hometown Cavemen and was devoted to his dog Chelsea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn J. Wright Lewis; mother, Doris Robertson Cross; father, James P. Lewis; two sisters: Mary Lou Rush Lewis and Susie Lewis; and sister-in-law, Rita Wright Allen. Survivors are his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Gary Lanier of Carlsbad, NM; brother-in-law, Thomas G. Allen of Tyler, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Gavin McDougal, Jeff Lewis, Tony Barclay, Bill Beidel, Mike Currier and Kevin Payne. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Perini, Pete Jones, Bun Cayton, Austin Lanier, Lindsey Lanier LePetit, Jack Lanier, Bruce Lanier, Gary Lanier and all of Jim's loving friends.
