About Lt. James Kilborn, Jr.
In his earlier life, he made several trips to sea as a whaleman. While a resident of Litchfield, CT, he lived between the present addresses of Maj. David Marsh and Gen. Buel (On the west side of the street about a mile and a half north of the court house) During the revolution, he entered the British Army as Quarter Master; and subsequently served as Lieutenant of Artillery. In 1780, he moved to Castleton, VT. He lived here until 1798, then emigrated to Canada. He was a tanner and currier, and farmer.
His Children were James, Abel, Eli, Hiram, Sarah, Mary, Roxana, and Ruth.
Son of James Kilborn Sr. and Sarah Bissell. In early life he went to sea on several voyages as a whalesman. During the American Revolution he entered the British Army as a Quarter Master and subsequently served as Lieutenant of Artillery. About 1780 he moved his family to Castleton, Vermont and resided there until about 1798 when he moved to eastern Ontario. By this time he was a widower. He was a tanner and currier, and farmer.
