James moved to Litchfield, CT around 1721. He was a grand juror in 1742 and 1761; and a Selectman in 1746, 1751, and 1757. For many years, he kept a public house of great reputation on the County House corner in Litchfield. His dwelling-house is still standing today on the west side of North St., b/w the residences of G.H. Hollister, esq and Dr. H.W. Buel. He is buried in the West burying-ground. His children were Roswell, Appleton, Lucy, Rhoda, Sarah, Honor, James, and Rachel.


["James Kilborn moved to Litchfield, CT with his family at the age of fourteen. He was married to Sarah Bissell on Sept. 12,1833. He was a Grand Juror in 1742 and 1761 and a Selectman in 1746, 1751 and 1757. For many years he kept a public house of great reputation on the County House corner in the village of Litchfield. His dwelling house, erected a short time before his decease, was still standing 100 years later on the west side of North St. in Litchfield between the residences of G.H. Hollister, Esq., and Dr. H.W. Buel. Mr. Kilborn died March 9, 1762 and was buried in the West Burying ground, Litchfield where his tombstone may still be seen. His eight children were: Roswell, Appleton, Lucy, Rhoda, Sarah, Honor, James and Rachel."
