James Morgan Kingery

James Morgan Kingery, born to Elias Elbert Sr. and Sarah Ann Chapman in Spring Point Twp., Cumberland Co., Illinois. Though he was of a prime age to serve in the Civil War, he did not. As told by Bub Hamilton (descendant of Sarah Jane Gibbons 2nd marriage), James and Sarah Gibbons' 2nd husband John Samuel Hamilton were very fond of each other. They worked on the railroad together and on the fateful day James lost his life due to an accident. The circumstances surrounding this event is not known. After James' death, as stated above, John Samuel Hamilton married the widow Sarah Jane Gibbons Kingery on 25 May 1880 in Effingham, Illinois. It was said that John Hamilton was quite fondest of Edward Willis Kingery of all his step children.
