• Wife's name: Elizabeth.
• Children all born in South Carolina according to census records.
• Possible resting place, on family property in the Jordan Kelly Cemetery, where his son H.B. Little and grandson John Gray Little have been laid to rest. Other burials in this cemetery date before the death of James, however no known records indicate his burial.
• 9 Aug 1837 James Little purchases 39.88 1/2 acres of land from the General Land Office in Cahaba, AL Homestead Patent - BLM.

The northwest quarter of the northeast quarter of section thirty four in Township twelve (12), of Range twenty-one (21) in the District of Lands subject to sale at Cahaba, Alabama, containing thirty-nine acres and eighty-eight and a half hundredths of an acre.

• 1850 Census - James was living with his son Henry. No mention of his wife Elizabeth was made in this first census with full accounting of household members.
• 1 Nov 1858 - sons Henry, Thomas and Samuel purchased land from the General Land Office in Elba, AL.
