Biography

James was born on October 23, 1662, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He was the son of John Lovell and Jane Hatch.[1][2]

His will, dated November 26, 1736, names his wife, Mary Lovell; children, Jacob Lovell, Lazarus Lovell, James Lovell, Rebecca Dexter, John Lovell, Martha Tobey (deceased), Lydia Wood, Mary Allen, Sarah Lovell; grandchildren: Abigail, Mary and Mercy Allen (daughters of Mary); James Tobey, Rebecca Tobey, Martha Tobey and Mary Tobey (daughters of Martha); Mercy Lovell (daughter of Jacob); John (son of John).[3]

His codicil, dated April 29, 1745, names in addition to those mentioned in his 1736 will, his granddaughter, Martha Lovell (daughter of John).[4]

James' will and codicil was presented for probate on January 10, 1755.[4]
