New Castle Co. DE deed book W, pp 480-481 dated 15 May 1764, Rebecca McMechen, widow of William McMechen, late of Mill Creek Hundred, James McMechen, administrator of the deceased William, and William McMechen, son of the deceased William, sell 124 acres to David Wilkin
Will of James McMechen (the original is lost, however a copy is filed at the Delaware State Archives, and is published in Genealogy of Evans, Nivin and Allied Families) dated 17 Nov 1767, probated 25 May 1767, it indicates that his father-in-law David Nivin died intestate and that the administrator of the estate never transferred to James the one-fifth share of Nivin's estate in right of his wife, and he wills that if the inheritance due to him should come after his death that it should be divided between the children of the first marriage: William, James, Agnes Montgomery, Mary Kennedy, Margaret Cochran, and David. Daughters by second marriage are Jean, Rebecca and Tabitha, all under legal age.
