About James Mclean "Lean" Hastings

DNA Circle Match on this ancestor at Ancestry.com-Stephen Wesley Kendall-four matches.

James nickname was Lean. James was a North Carolina soldier in the Revolutionary War (DAR record #617492, Yetive Denton Ramsey, a supplemental). He married (1) Mary Ann Wilson about 1799 in Orange Co., NC. She was born in 1758 and died in 1784, about age 26 and was the mother of his first three children. He then married (2) Hannah Crabtree, on 15 July 1784, in Orange Co., NC.
According to Will T. Hastings' research, James, Sr. became indisposed at a cornshucking in the neighborhood, excused himself at an early hour, went home and died about sunrise the next morning.
Some researchers have his death 10 May 1822; Will T. Hastings has it in October because of the will's date. Also, cornshucking would have happened in the fall, not the spring.
