At least one pedigree published by MyHeritage claims that James Muirhead, here treated, was the son of James Muirhead and his wife Helen Lindsay, and that he was born at Craigton in Dunbartonshire in 1624. MyHeritage This is not possible, however, because James Muirhead and Helen Lindsay were not actually married until 1637. In view of this it follows, that James Muirhead, here treated, cannot possibly be the son of James Muirhead, younger of Lauchope who is certainly known to have been contracted to marry Helen Lindsay on 12 June 1637. James Muirhead, here treated, is identified as John James Muirehead in at least fifteen pedigree publish by MyHeritage, although this proposition is not supported by his marriage record and the baptismal records of five of his children by Elspeth Dun, which clearly identify him as James Muirheid or Muirhead.
