About James Nash

JAMES5 NASH, son of Abraham4, Sr., 1, lived in the east part of Gilsum, where he d., Dec. 7, 1825. He m. Matilda Waters, b. in Wateitown, Mass., in 1759 (or 1760); d. in S., June 13, 1829; dau. of Zebulon and Alice (Bradford) Waters; gr. dau. of lilisha Bradford; gr. gr. dau. of Joseph Bradford; gr.gr.gr. dau. of Gov. William Bradford of I'lymoiith. She was murdered by Daniel II. Coiey, who struck her with his gun, in a fit of insanity, and split her head open, a few feet from his house at 190. See page 360. James Nash had lived, after his marriage, in Stoughton and Taunton in Massachusetts, and Winchester, N. H. He came to S., with his mother, in 1794, and, with her, built the house that stood at 211 !i. He moved to his farm in the east part of Gilsum in 1797, where he lived the rest of his life. He had ten ch.: 1. James', b. in Stoughton, Mass., Feb. 23, 1782 ; d. in Gilsum, Dec. 6, 1802 ; 2. Daniel*, 3, b. in Taunton, Mass., Feb. 13, 1784; 3. Asa*, 4, b. in Taunton, Mass., Sept. 18, 1789; 4. Levi1, 5, b. in Winchester, N. H., May 25, 1793; 5. Samuel Water?, 6, b. in S., at 211, Jan. 29, 1795; 6. Charles*, 7, b. in S., at 2iij£, July 24, 1797  7- Stephen*, b. in Gilsum, July 1799; d. there, Nov. 19, 1801, ae. two yis., four mos.; 8. Elisha*, b. in Gilsum, July 1, 1801; d. unm. in Westmoreland, Apr. 28, 1880; 9. A son*, twin to Klisha4, was still born.
