James Patrick (Pat) Tritt of 527 Oakwood Avenue went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, Feb. 8, 2007 at Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, VA at the age of 62. Dr. Tritt was born in Pennington Gap, VA on March 16, 1944, the beloved son and only child of Mary Lynn Hobbs Tritt and the late P. H. Tritt. He was of the Methodist faith. Dr. Tritt graduated from Pennington High School on June 1, 1962. He continued his education, first enrolling in LMU in Harrogate, TN, then transferring to Clinch Valley College in Wise, VA where he completed a two year course.
He recieved his B S Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Masters Degree from The University of Nebraska in 1976. On March 22, 1985, he recieved his DR. of Philosophy from Ohio State University. Dr. Tritt taught Distributive Education for a number of years at The High School in Pennington Gap, Va and also in Platte, Nebraska. After completing his Ph.D , he was employed by the Royal Family in Saudi Arabia as Director of Vocational Instruction. He also designed the Curriculum program of vocational education for 2 years in Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Tritt is survived by his Mother, of the home: two aunts, Rebecca Hobbs Neal of Clintwood, VA and Jessie Hobbs Myers, of Dryden, VA. He is also survived by several cousins as well as a special friend of the family, Susie Rutledge of Pennington Gap, VA. Family will recieve friends on Sat. Feb 10, from 6 until 8 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap.Services will be conducted at 8:00 P. M. with Rev. Tom Reed , Pastor of the Pennington ,First United Methodist Church Officiating. Dr. Tritt will be laid to rest on Sunday at 2:00 P. M. at Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Pallbearers will be , Jeff Day, Robert and Blaine Ratliff, David Myers, Wade Gardner, and Fred Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will be, Wayne Myers and Henry J. Peters, JR.
