About James Oliver Pillsbury
James Oliver Pillsbury, a lifelong resident and prominent farmer of Unity, died at a local hospital yesterday afternoon. He was born in Unity on September 7, 1874, son of George and Clara (Rackliffe) Pillsbury. He married the former Sarah Hunt on December 16, 1899.
He was widely known throughout the state as a horse man and light harness racing enthusiast. He owned several racing horses. For several years he was owner of Unity Park Association, where fairs were held for many of those years.
He is survived by his widow, Sadie (Sarah) Pillsbury of Unity; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Selnau of Portland; two grandchildren; two brothers, Charles P. of Brookline, Mass. and Edwin P. of Fairfield; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Whitney of Portland.
Funeral services will be held at the home in Unity Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the Pond Cemetery in Unity.
